Helsinki Pride Community

Helsinki Pride Community

Helsinki Pride is a human rights NGO that

- does diverse social and youth work
- offers training and consulting services
- organises Helsinki Pride Week, a week-long event where culture meets human rights
- does advocacy work to promote the rights and well-being of sexual and gender minorities

Our work

Helsinki Pride Community bases its operations on expertise on sexual and gender diversity, strong community, networking and partnerships and active volunteering. We offer support, information and opportunities to promote human rights.

In our daily work we support sexual and gender minorities (LGBTQIA+) and pay special attention to persons in vulnerable situations. We also strengthen the abilities of other actors in answering the needs of LGBTQIA+ people. We strive to reduce discrimination and loneliness of LGBTQIA+ people and strenghten the inclusion and all-round wellbeing of the LGBTQIA+ community through diverse youth and social work. As a part of our community and advocacy work and with the help and support of our partners and volunteers we organise Helsinki Pride Week, the biggest cultural and human rights event in Finland.

Our goals

Our mission is that inclusion, support and advocacy is possible for everyone without fear of discrimination.

We work to ensure that the vulnerability and rights of LGBTQIA+ people are taken into account on all levels of society, and that the Finnish welfare system is equipped to offer preventive and targeted support.

We envision an open and safe society for all regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression, where all discriminatory structures have been torn down.
