Sateenkaariperheet x HAM – Exhibition visit and art workshop to 7-12-year-olds and their guardians

HAM Helsinki Art Museum celebrates Pride month together with Finnish Rainbow Family Association!

We get to know the colorful paintings of the Bambi forever exhibition and print Colorful graphics on gel plates in the art workshop. The art workshop is guided by HAM employees and accompanied by Sateenkaariperheet volunteers.

Is the route to the entrance accessible? By accessible route, we mean that the pathway is flat, hard-surfaced, and gently sloping.

Is the entrance accessible?

The southern entrance on Rautatienkatu to Tennispalatsi, the main entrance to HAM, is not accessible. The entrance doors are clearly marked, and the glass doors have high-contrast markings. There is ample space outside the door for movement, such as with a wheelchair. The door is heavy or otherwise difficult to open. There are thresholds over 2 cm high at the entrance. However, event guides are happy to assist participants with the door and entrance.

Can all areas of the event be accessed without barriers?

Yes.

Is there a functional induction loop system and necessary signage in the event space?

Yes.

Is there an accessible toilet in the event space compliant with accessibility requirements?

Yes.

Other notes on accessibility:

Tennispalatsi is wheelchair accessible. The route to the museum’s premises: The museum entrance, HAM Hall, and workshop space are on the 2nd floor of Tennispalatsi, accessible by elevator near all the exterior doors – most easily via elevators (C and D). At the southern end of Rautatiekatu, there are escalators directly to the museum ticket office. The exhibition spaces are on two floors (2nd and 3rd floors). There is an elevator connection within the exhibition spaces to the third floor. The museum doors are clearly marked, and the glass doors have high-contrast markings. The elevator doors open automatically, and the floor numbers are tactile. The restrooms are located inside the museum premises. Restrooms are not segregated by gender and are freely available to all. The accessible restroom is on the same floor as the ticket office (2nd floor). You will need a code to open the door, which you can obtain from the ticket office. The code is also available on your admission ticket. The restroom door opens by pressing a button and closes automatically.
