Workshop: Activists’ resources

A workshop for anyone involved in queer and trans activism or those who would like to be.

We are conducting research on activism in LGBTIQ+ communities and have surveyed activists’ resources. We will share the main results of our survey at the beginning of the workshop.

The main focus of the workshop will be peer discussions among activists in small groups. Where do activists find resources for their activism? What kind of support for activism would be desirable? What sustains hope in activism?

Address of the venue: Lintulahdenkatu 3, 00500 HKI

Is there sign language interpretation at the event?

No

Will your event be streamed, or is there an opportunity to participate remotely?

No

Are there accessible parking spaces near the entrance?

No

Is there space for drop-off traffic (taxi/charter taxi) to stop in front of the entrance?

There are parking spaces on Lintulahdenkatu. There are street parking spaces in front of the entrance, so depending on the number of parked cars, it may be difficult for drop-off traffic to get right in front of the entrance.

Is the route to the entrance accessible? An accessible route means that the pathway is level, hard-surfaced, and has a gentle slope.

The walkway is flat and has a hard surface, but Lintulahdenkatu is on a slope, so there is a gradient in both directions in front of the entrance. The staff of the building will assist with entry if needed.

Is the entrance accessible?

Yes

Is it possible to access all areas of the event without barriers?

Yes

Is there a functional induction loop in the event space and necessary signage?

No

Does the event space have an accessible restroom that meets accessibility requirements?

Yes

Other considerations regarding accessibility:

The auditorium seating is on the ground level and consists of movable chairs, so a wheelchair space can be arranged at the front, side, or back of the audience as needed. The room does not have an induction loop. A portable wheelchair ramp is available for access to the stage. The ramp is 180 cm long, 76 cm wide, with a capacity of 300 kg and a gradient of 12 degrees.
