The Bear flag is made of 100% polyester, making it durable. It has a reinforced edge strip for easy hanging. The flag is suitable both for home decoration to proclaim an important message and for proudly carrying it as a parade banner in Pride parades and why not other events as well.
The bear pride flag, known as “Bear Brotherhood,” was designed by Craig Byrnes in 1995. The term evolved in the United States as early as the 1970’s, but it gained wider usage only in the late 1980’s. The gay bear culture celebrates a more masculine body and body and facial hair – traits considered typical characteristic of bears. In the 21st century, the bear culture has also begun to embrace others besides cisgender men, to their community and terms like Ursula have been introduced, representing lesbian bears.
The Bear Pride Flag has seven stripes, and its colors don’t so much represent skin or hair color, as in some other pride flags. The colors of the bear flag’s stripes represent the fur shades of various animal bears around the world.
