Syrjivät käytännöt purettava Helsingin homobaareissa / Discriminatory door policies in Helsinki gay clubs should be revised

Pakolaistaustaisiin seksuaali- ja sukupuolivähemmistöihin kuuluviin ihmisiin kohdistuvaa syrjivää ja mielivaltaista asiakasvalintaa on tehty kaikissa helsinkiläisissä homobaareissa jo vuoden ajan. Asiasta on käyty neuvotteluja eri tilanteissa, niin ravintoloiden ovilla kuin yhteisössä, ja tilanteesta on välitetty tietoa myös Yhdenvertaisuusvaltuutetun toimistoon.
Eri dokumenttien virallisuuteen vedoten helsinkiläiset homobaarit ovat jättäneet ulkopuolelle ne yhteisöömme kuuluvat ihmiset, jotka kaikkein eniten tarvitsevat positiivisia kokemuksia, tunnetta osallisuudesta sekä vahvistusta unelmalleen paremmasta tulevasta.
19.10. DTM on ensimmäisenä helsinkiläisenä ravintolana ilmoittanut vihdoin muuttavansa linjaustaan ja hyväksyvänsä oleskelulupakortin todisteeksi henkilön iästä. Tällainen käytäntö on ollut voimassa jo muun muassa Turussa sijaitsevassa homobaari Suxesissa. DTM rohkaisee myös muita toimijoita tekemään saman linjauksen.
Ongelma ei ole koskenut vain DTM:ää, vaan se on tullut vastaan myös kaikissa muissa Helsingin homobaareissa, muun muassa Herculeksessa ja GLoungessa.
Olemme pettyneitä lainsäädäntöön, joka mahdollistaa sen, että ravintoloitsija voi itse valita, päästääkö oleskeluluvalla olevan asiakkaan sisään ravintolaan.
Ravintoloilla, joiden kohderyhmänä on seksuaali- ja sukupuolivähemmistöihin kuuluvat ihmiset ja heidän ystävänsä, tuntuu olevan kovin vähän ymmärrystä itse yhteisöstä. Onko vähemmistökulttuuri, yhteisöllisyys ja solidaarisuus niin kaukana suomalaisesta sateenkaariskenestä, että tilaa löytyy ainoastaan kantasuomalaisille kuluttajille?

Discriminatory door policies in Helsinki gay clubs should be revised
For a year, gay bars in Helsinki have denied entry from refugee-backgrounded people with a door policy that is both arbitrary and discriminatory. The issue has been discussed in various situations, with the doormen of the restaurants as well as within the LGBT community. Also the Office of the Non-Discrimination Ombudsman has been informed about the situation.
Questioning the acceptability of certain documents as a proof of age, the gay bars in Helsinki have excluded from their services the members of our community who are most in need of positive experiences, sense of involvement and confirmation for a dream of a better future.
On the 19th of October gay club DTM became the first restaurant in Helsinki to change their door policy and to officially accept the Finnish residence permit as a proof of age. This same policy has been adopted earlier for example in the gay bar Suxes in Turku. DTM encourages other restaurants to change their policies as well.
This problem has not only involved DTM but has also been encountered in all the other gay bars in Helsinki, among others in Hercules and GLounge.
We are extremely disappointed with the legislation that allows restaurants to choose whether to accept residence permit as a document of identification or not.
Seems that bars catering to sexual and gender minorities and their friends seem to have very little understanding of the LGBT community itself. Are the concepts of a minority culture, sense of community and solidarity so foreign to the Finnish LGBT scene that there is no room for refugee-backgrounded customers?
