This year you can participate in the Helsinki Pride Parade from your yard, the park, or living room with the new and beautiful hybrid event and Virtual Parade!
Due to the restrictions on large public gatherings this year, the Pride parade on Saturday the 12th of September will take a new form as a hybrid event, in which the independent celebrations held by the Pride community and its supporters meet the brand new Virtual parade, which you can find on the event website helsinkipride2020.fi.
By joining the Virtual Parade, you will become part of the colourful rainbow weeping across the city of Helsinki, which you can follow throughout Saturday online!
Dress up in your favourite Pride gear, fill your backpack with love and pride, make your way to a location of your choice and click yourself onto the virtual map of Helsinki found on helsinkipride2020.fi! Once there, you will be part of the colourful parade extending across the city starting from the Senate Square.
Of course, you can choose how visibly and loudly you wish to participate in the Pride-parade: the virtual parade map does not reveal your identity or your exact location, so you can safely click yourself onto the map even if the celebration was held in your own backyard.
If you want to share your Pride even more visibly get creative with banners and flags, take your party downtown (whilst taking into account the social distancing recommendations), or join the media wave of posts on social media by tagging #helsinkipride2020, #imwithpride or @helsinkipride.
There will also be a Pride Cam on Saturday, a film group going around the city recording the celebrations, which you can follow in the video stream found on the event website – you might even spot yourself or your friends!
