Guidelines for a smooth and safe march
Parade safety
The safety of the parade is managed by security personnel and the police. All participants must follow their instructions throughout the march. Traffic will be directed by professional traffic controllers. First aid is available at the corner of Unioninkatu and Hallituskatu, next to the Info Point at Senate Square.
The parade moves at a walking pace. At times, it may be paused to allow other traffic to pass at specific points along the route. These pauses are coordinated by security in cooperation with the police.
A safe and peaceful march through the busy city center requires cooperation from all participants. If you witness or experience inappropriate behavior, suspect a threat to the parade, or notice anything suspicious during or before the event, please report it immediately to the security staff or directly to the police. Our security staff can be identified by their yellow vests labeled “Local Crew Security.” If necessary, call the emergency number 112.
All Helsinki Pride events follow the principles of safer spaces. You can find the Safer Space Principles here. In any cases of harassment or discrimination, you can turn to the harassment contact persons for support. You can recognize them by their pink safety vests, and you can find them at the Helsinki Pride Info Point at Senate Square. Event participants can also give anonymous feedback to the harassment contact team using the feedback form. The form is especially encouraged for non-urgent matters. Fill out the harassment contact person's feedback form here.

Guidelines for peaceful demonstrating at the Parade
Demonstrating at the Helsinki Pride Parade is impactful, fun, socially engaged, empowering, and communal. Helsinki Pride is a diverse and inclusive march where there is no room for violence, racism, harassment, or hate speech. Respect for diversity is a core value of Pride events. Please help us create a safe space where everyone can be themselves. Together, we ensure a safe, respectful, and empowering experience for all!
The Pride Parade includes chants and slogans defending the rights of sexual and gender minorities, which can also be written on personal protest signs. There may also be other demonstrators along the parade route who are protesting against Pride. This may feel upsetting and unfair. However, everyone has the right to protest, so it's best not to react to counter-demonstrations along the route. We are louder than they are—so let’s focus on the message of the Pride Parade, which is strong and powerful! Violent behavior will result in removal from the parade.

Silent Walking Block in the Helsinki Pride Parade
You can join the Helsinki Pride Parade from Fabianinkatu, at Esplanadi Park, where the gathering for the Silent Walking Block begins at 1:00 PM. A landmark for the meeting point is the Helsinki Biennial artwork.
At the meeting point, you’ll find Salla Vallius from Helsinki Pride, who will guide you in joining the parade. The Silent Walking Block will join the parade at approximately 1:30 PM from Esplanadi Park. Salla will be holding a sign that says Hiljainen blokki. You can reach Salla at +358 40 717 4665 or salla@pride.fi.
The Silent Block will walk peacefully to the Park Festival. Please note that the Silent Block is "silent" in comparison to the rest of the parade, but not truly sensory-friendly. Participants joining the Silent Block are kindly asked to leave high-visibility (neon-colored) clothing and items, as well as loud horns and similar noisemakers, at home. Rainbow colors, balloons, signs, and similar items are welcome. The Silent Block is not a joyless block!
