Welcome to the Park Festival of Helsinki Pride week!
On suuri ilo ja onni nähdä teidät kaikki täällä – ystävämme ja yhteisömme jäsenet. Kiitos, että olette tulleet juhlistamaan tätä upeaa tapahtumaa kanssamme ja että teette sitä kanssamme.
Kulkueesta on saapunut puistoon nyt jo valtaosa ja arviomme on, että keräsimme myös tänä vuonna yli 100 000 ihmistä marssimaan seksuaali- ja sukupuolivähemmistöjen oikeuksien puolesta. The parade gathered this year over 100 000 people, this is amazing people, lets give a loud round of applause to it!
This year, over 300 different events have been organized during Pride Month, and once again around 200 different organizations have partnered with us to make it all happen. Our united front for the rights of LGBTQIA+ people has grown and strengthened once again.
Viime syksynä traagisesti henkirikoksen uhrina kuollut Suomen ensimmäinen avoimesti homoseksuaali jääkiekkoilija Janne Puhakka esitti viime kesänä toiveen sateenkaariurheilijoiden omasta rekasta. Olemme ylpeitä, että saimme toteuttaa tämän Jannen toiveen tänä vuonna yhdessä Olympiakomitean ja Ihmisoikeusliiton kanssa, Janne Puhakan muistolle. Me Helsinki Pride yhteisössä haluamme osoittaa lämpimän ja myötäelävän osanottomme Jannen perheelle ja läheisille. Janne oli upea esikuva meille kaikille ja hänen muistonsa elää – nyt ja aina.
Senni: This year’s theme of the Helsinki Pride event is Pride Without Borders. With this theme, we want to celebrate 10 years of Together with Pride -work with LGBTQIA+ asylum seekers and refugees. At this point, we want to thank the people who have contributed to this work over the years , especially Hassen Hnini and Aaro Horsma who were the founders of this work. From the bottom of my heart, I thank the current members of the Together with Pride team at the Helsinki Pride Community Yasmin Okpara and Kirsti Junkkari for the work you do every day to promote the wellbeing and rights of rainbow refugees and asylum seekers.
In addition to celebrating, we also want to strongly demand better immigration policies from the Finnish government. Finland is not just a country where you are born. It must be a place that welcomes those fleeing persecution because of their sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. We want the rainbow community to be a refuge for all, especially those who have been forced to leave everything behind. Our community is strengthened by opening doors, not closing them.
Helsinki Priden Solidaarisuusohjelman tavoitteena on tukea sateenkaarioikeuksia globaalisti keräämällä rahaa vuosittain vaihtuvalle sisarjärjestöllemme. Tämän vuoden kohteena on Ugandalainen sateenkaarijärjestö Freedom and Roam Uganda – Farug.
The situation of rainbow rights in Uganda is very worrying. A law passed in 2024 criminalises all same-sex sexual acts and includes the death penalty for homosexuality. Please join us in supporting the extremely important work of FARUG by donating trough our website, pride.fi.
