Is activism for all?

Is activism for all?

Youth activism is more important than ever — it strengthens democracy, fosters active citizenship, and supports mental wellbeing at a time when young people are navigating multiple crises, from armed conflicts to the ecological emergency. Yet for many, the door to participation remains closed. Minority groups continue to face significant barriers to engaging in civil society and activist spaces.

Join us for an open conversation where NGOs and activism networks explore what it truly takes to make activism inclusive — and what still needs to change.

Speakers:

– Elo Vanhanen — Chair of Luontoliitto, student of international politics and sustainable development, and former Youth Nature Delegate of Finland

– Ditmar Hasanaj — Researcher behind Amnesty’s report Barriers to Participation: Racism and the Unequal Right to Protest, which examines how racism affects the participation of BIPOC and other racialised groups in civil activism in Finland

– Henry Salas — Gender & Inclusion Specialist, bringing a global perspective

– Kimya Fayaz — Student and activist from Afghanistan who, after moving to Finland, has been involved in Plan International’s youth groups and the Girls Takeover campaign
